Methodology

Cost figures represent typical residential water damage restoration projects: the low end reflects contained, clean-water incidents caught early; the high end reflects large or contaminated losses requiring demolition and rebuild. Tiers follow the IICRC S500 standard's damage classes (1–4) and water categories (1–3). Estimates are compiled from publicly available contractor pricing data, industry reports, homeowner cost surveys, and regional labor market data, and are reviewed annually. See our About page for details; each city guide lists its local sources.
